We offer many gates to Zen practice, and we invite you to join us in ways that work for your life and schedule. Our members practice at the center and at home during the ordinary activities of daily life. We are easy to get to know.

Some of our offerings: Zazen, Study Groups, Family Practice, Community Days, Personal Interviews with Jisho Roshi, Dharma Talks, Retreats, and Weddings and Funerals.

Instruction in zazen (Zen sitting meditation) and an introduction to practicing Zen are offered on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 to 10:00 am. There is no fee, and it is not necessary to pre-register. Just come, try it, and feel free to ask questions. Sitting cushions and chairs are provided.

Rocks and Clouds Zendo is a small Zen Buddhist community located in Sebastopol, California. The community (sangha) meets for meditation, tea and a talk (teisho) by the teacher, Daniel Terragno Roshi, weekly on Wednesdays. On many Fridays, Terragno Roshi offers dokusan, an opportunity to meet privately for discussion of meditation practice. Terragno Roshi works with and guides students in their practice, which may include study of the ancient Zen koans as a way of waking up to one's true nature and developing the awareness, compassion, insight, and presence to live courageously and responsibly.

Ati Ling was established in Oakville, California in 1987 by His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche as the Bay Area branch of Chagdud Gonpa Foundation to provide instruction in the traditions of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism. Chagdud Rinpoche's son Jigme Tromge Rinpoche has been resident lama of Ati Ling since 1992.

We offer daily group practice... retreats with Jigme Rinpoche and visiting lamas... meditation instruction... facilities for personal retreats... Buddhist reading materials... arranging of butterlamp offerings... dedicated shrine-room for practice or study... introduction to Tibetan sacred arts... support and prayer for those going through bereavement...

When he is not travelling, Jigme Rinpoche is available for interviews and can offer guidance for those wishing to pursue a spiritual practice.

We are located at the Padmasambhava Peace Institute, a non-profit educational center established by Jigme Rinpoche and dedicated to actively teaching peace, harmony, preservation of the environment, and respect for all beings. The Institute is on a beautiful 485-acre site known as the Black Mountain Preserve about two-and-a-half hours north of San Francisco, in the coastal redwood hills of western Sonoma county.

In March 2005, Buddha Dendo relocated from San Francisco to the Cobb Mountain region, on 160 acres of land, at the 2500 ft elevation on the 4700 ft mountain. Anybody is welcome to visit at any time, as long as they keep the basic rules of a temple, such as not bringing meat, fish, alcohol, or drugs on to the temple grounds. For those who wish to lead the renunciate life of the bodhisattva, the full training is available, including such things as kaihogyo (mountain circling meditation), purification, morning and evening liturgies, mantra recitation, periods of seclusion, samatha-vipasyana (shi-kan) meditation, and goma (sacred fire offering). For this last practice, a proper hall is being constructed. The training is directed by VK Leary Keisho, a priest in the lineage of Enami Kakusho (Gozen-sama) of Mt Hiei, Japan.

The mission of the Padmasambhava Peace Institute is to create a place for human and environmental restoration and to teach applied peace and compassion. We sit two short periods of zazen with a 5 minute kinhin (walking meditation) in between or one long period of zazen after which we will have a brief Soto Zen service during which we chant the Heart Sutra and the Ennmei Juku Kannon (Kwan Yin) Gyo .
