Rocks and Clouds Zendo is a small Zen Buddhist community located in Sebastopol, California. The community (sangha) meets for meditation, tea and a talk (teisho) by the teacher, Daniel Terragno Roshi, weekly on Wednesdays. On many Fridays, Terragno Roshi offers dokusan, an opportunity to meet privately for discussion of meditation practice. Terragno Roshi works with and guides students in their practice, which may include study of the ancient Zen koans as a way of waking up to one's true nature and developing the awareness, compassion, insight, and presence to live courageously and responsibly.

The sangha holds regular sesshin (meditation retreats)

A school and residential community in the Theravada Tradition.

Sae Taw Win II is an offspring of classic Theravada Buddhism. Essentially, it is a way to perceive, understand and engage with life in a realistic, humane way. It is a gentle, loving philosophy that is shared by a diverse community of people from around the world. This unique perspective celebrates the principles of:

......dana ~ generosity
......metta ~ non-violence
......sila ~ keeping the precepts
......bhavana ~ meditation
......panna ~ wisdom

Sae Taw Win II was founded in 1997 by Dr. Thynn Thynn, a Burmese-born, retired physician. Dr. Thynn is the resident teacher and yogi at the Sae Taw Win II Dhamma Center in Northern California. The Center is an extension of the original Sae Taw Win Monastery in central Burma.

Sonoma Mountain Zen Center was formed in 1973 to continue the Soto Zen lineage of Shunryu Suzuki-roshi and to make everyday Zen available to people in Sonoma County. We are situated on 80 acres of rolling hills and mountainous land, located 11 miles from the town of Santa Rosa. Our sangha consists of a small residence and a larger membership that joins us in Zen practice from the local area, as well as other parts of the United States and Europe.

Our programs offer a variety of ways to engage in Zen practice. We emphasize a commitment to the practice of sitting meditation (zazen) every day as a way to deepen our true nature and to actualize it clearly in our work and daily activities.
