Tsa Tsa Studio -- Center for Tibetan Sacred Art

Tsa Tsa Studio
855 Parr Blvd., Studio L30
Richmond, California
(415) 503-0409
info@tsatsastudio.org
The Tsa Tsa Studio's purpose as a center is to provide training in and facilities for tsa tsa practice and other forms of sacred art. 'Tsa Tsa' is a Tibetan term used to describe Buddha statues and relief images that are made as part of a particular meditation practice. Making tsa tsas is a preliminary practice given by teachers in Tibet - and now all over the world - to their students as a method of eliminating obstacles, purifying negativities, and creating positive energy (merit). Often, students are given a commitment to make 100,000 tsa tsas during their lifetime.

Under the guidance of the current State Oracle Ven. Thupten Ngodup, we are very pleased to announce the establishment of a Nechung Buddhist Center in the Bay Area. As an official branch of the Nechung Monastery in Dharamsala, India, Nechung Buddhist Center, San Francisco, was established in 2000. In keeping with the goals of the Monastery, the Nechung Center is dedicated to preserving the unique cultural and spiritual heritage of Tibet and sharing it with the rest of the world.
The Nechung Buddhist Center, San Francisco, is a nonprofit organization. The faculty members of the Nechung Center teach all stages of Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan language. The Center holds monthly meditations classes, and training programs; organizes special talks, teachings and initiations by masters of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism; and hosts presentations on the Tibetan art of thangka painting, healing and astrology. Fund-raising efforts are directed toward supporting the Nechung monastic community in India and Tibet and creating educational and health-care facilities for Tibetan refugees. A long-term goal of the Nechung Center is to complete the refurbishment of the original monastery in Tibet.
