Q-Sangha is a ministry of the Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco in the engaged "Unified Buddhist" tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh (which blends the best insights of the Theravada, Zen and Pure Land schools of Buddhism in a contemporary way).

The kind of Buddhist spirituality we espouse is ecumenical, nonsectarian and for the equal benefit of Buddhists, Christians and those of other faiths as well as the non-religious. Mindfulness is not limited to one religion; it is a spiritual practice and a way of life that can benefit anyone and everyone.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of religious affiliation or meditation experience. A typical evening includes 25 minutes of sitting meditation, 10 minutes of walking meditation, a dharma talk, group discussion and singing. We frequently have guest speakers.

The "Q" in Q Sangha refers to Queer, which includes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Sangha is the Buddhist term of spiritual community.

Our practice helps us to be present and accepting and to calm our bodies and minds. From this place, it is easier to live with greater compassion, understanding and happiness.

When: Tuesdays from 7 - 9 p.m.

Where: MCC-SF, 150 Eureka St.

Q-Sangha with Rev. Jana Drakka, Zen Buddhist Priest is held every Tuesday 7PM at MCC-SF, 150 Eureka Street, San Francisco.

MCCSF is delighted to announce a "re-launch" of Q-Sangha, a queer meditation community in the Buddhist tradition. Join Rev. Jana for meditation instruction, practice, and supportive community every Tuesday evening in the MCCSF sanctuary. Each evening features a 90-minute session followed by tea and fellowship.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of spiritual tradition or practice. All can benefit from this community and experience! A suggested donation of $10; but no one turned away for lack of funds.
